Ping Yin Chai   

President and CEO

Ping Yin Chai began his career with Salem Five in 1981 and since then has been actively involved with all aspects of the bank. He helped develop Salem Five Mortgage into an industry leader and also managed the Insurance and Investment Services divisions. As executive vice president and chief financial officer, he was responsible for the bank’s finance division and investment portfolio. On Jan. 1, 2015, Chai succeed Joseph M. Gibbons as president and CEO of Salem Five.

Chai is an honors graduate of Bentley University and earned an MBA from Suffolk University. He is an active advisory board member of Fannie Mae and recently served on the advisory board of the Federal Home Loan Bank. He is also a former board member of PeopleHelper.org of Boston and Salem YMCA. He lives in North Andover with his wife and daughter, and travels extensively around the world.
