Salem, MA., December 19, 2023 – The Salem Five Charitable Foundation has awarded $39,000 to 13 different not-for-profit organizations that provide housing, food and other social services to underprivileged people and families, the Bank announced today.

Now in its third year, the Bank’s “Make a Difference in December” Program identifies organizations that did not receive grants from the Foundation during 2023, yet whose reputation for helping people is well established – making them eligible to each receive a $3,000 donation.

“We wanted to focus on housing this year, given its critical need,” said Salem Five President and CEO Ping Yin Chai.  “However, we also recognized organizations that provide other essential services as we head into the winter months.”

The following organizations are scheduled to receive grants from the Salem Five Charitable Foundation:

  • Family Promise North Shore, Beverly
  • House of Hope, Lowell
  • Housing Families, Malden
  • One Family, Boston
  • The Haven Project, Lynn
  • River House, Beverly
  • Horizons for Homeless Children, Roxbury
  • Project Home Again, Andover
  • Family Movement, Boston
  • Middlesex Human Service Agency, Waltham
  • Lowell Transitional Living Center, Lowell
  • Our Neighbor’s Table, Amesbury
  • The Food Project, Lynn
Founded in 1996, the Salem Five Charitable Foundation works to support not-for-profit organizations that are making a positive impact in the communities served by the Bank, ensuring vibrant and viable futures for the people they serve.
